Position: (Senior) Machine Learning Engineer (F/M/D)

About the Role
As a machine learning engineer, you'll join a team of researchers and engineers within our Tech team, collaborating closely with the large medical team. Your focus will be on creating medical computer vision algorithms that will be tested in real hospitals. You'll emphasize performance, robustness, explainability, and computational efficiency.
If you’ve seen the full machine learning lifecycle from ideation through implementation, testing, and release, and have a passion for large data, large model training, and building solutions with clean code, we would love to welcome you to our team!
What you will be doing
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Building patient-focused products in close collaboration with medical stakeholders.
- Integrating into a team of engineers to develop innovative ML algorithms for medical image analysis.
- Innovating to compete with state-of-the-art technologies.
- Processing large medical image datasets for various modalities (CT, MRI, etc.) in different formats (DICOM, NIFTI, etc.).
- Publishing articles in scientific journals and conferences and submitting patents.
- Understanding and implementing industry standards for development, testing, maintenance, etc.
Who are you?
We are looking for brilliant engineers with hands-on experience in machine learning, ideally from ideation to deployment. Together, we will tailor the role to your strengths. Some of the characteristics we are looking for include, but are not limited to:
- MSc or PhD in computer science, computer vision, or related field
- Excellent coding skills and experience in Python, C++, and PyTorch (or related libraries).
- Experience with handling medical images is a benefit.
- Up-to-date with published literature on various machine learning & computer vision topics.
- Experience with MLOps libraries such as weights&biases, MLFlow, ClearML etc.
- Experience in developing with best practices (maintaining existing code, versioning, conducting code reviews etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (required) and German (desirable).
